Endius inks distribution agreement for spinal products
CARLSBAD, CA September 29, 2005 - Endius Inc., a developer of minimally invasive spine surgery technology in Plainville, has entered into a strategic alliance with Quantum Orthopedics of Carlsbad, Calif. to distribute the company's PEEK-OPTIMA line of spinal implant products in the United States.
The agreement marks the first step in what Endius chief executive officer Michael McCarthy called a repositioning of the company as a full-line spine company.
The agreement covers two Quantum products, the Lucent Vertebral Body Replacement system (for the lumbar region) and the Crystal implant and instrumentation system for vertebral body replacement in the cervical region.
McCarthy said the company is already selling the Lucent system and the Crystal product line will be available through Endius in the first quarter of 2006.
Endius raised $15 million in funding last May to accelerate the company's repositioning.
